What is Skating Circle?

Skating Circle is a virtual community for ice-skaters and fans where you can share your videos, view original programs, enter competitions, catch exclusive coverage of skating events, create a personal profile and connect with other skating fans.

Who may join Skating Circle?

Anyone! Skating Circle is intended for anyone who is nuts about skating and all are welcome. If you're under 18 years old, you will need the permission of your parent to join.

Does it cost money to join?

Joining Skating Circle is free and we will never email to ask for credit card information in connection with your Skating Circle account. In the unlikely event that you receive an email soliciting this kind of information, please bring it to our attention and add the sender to your email program's spam list.

Registering an account

Why do I have to register?

Well, you don't HAVE to register...but we think you might want to! As an unregistered user you will have access to some parts of the site, but you will not be able to upload video, leave comments or votes, share a profile with friends or use the invitation functions. And remember, most of the information we ask for is optional, so the registration process can be as simple and speedy as you'd like.

Why do you need all this information? Is my information safe?

Your information is safe with us. We will not share it with anyone else without asking first, even if they can pull off a really impressive triple axel. We ask for information about you so we can get to know our community members--this helps us tailor Skating Circle to your interests. Please review our privacy policy if you have any questions.

Can I delete what I've posted to the website?

Yes. However, please remember that by posting something to the website, you agree to the posting policy. This includes giving Skating Circle permission to use your videos in the future. If you have concerns about this policy, please email the Skating Circle team.

Help!

Something on the website doesn't work. What should I do?

Let us know about it! We appreciate the heads-up and will take care of it ASAP. Click here to send an email to our tech support staff.

I can't log in.

If you’re having trouble logging in, try these suggestions:

• Before you can log in, you must create an account and validate your email address. After you create an account, we will send an email to the address you provide with your registration. Open the email and click on the link. You're done!
• If you haven't received your registration email, make sure your email program hasn't sorted it into a junk mail or spam folder. We suggest adding admin@skatingcircle.com to your "safe senders" list.
• Verify you are entering the correct username (not your email address) and password.
• Did you forget your password? Click here to request a reminder; we will send it to the email you registered with your account.
• Passwords are cAsE sEnSiTiVe…make sure you don’t have caps lock on.

I can’t upload my video.

Here are some possible factors that can keep you from uploading successfully:

• The file is too large. Remember, files you upload must be 100 MB or smaller.
• The file is in the wrong format. try saving the file in one of these allowed file extensions: avi, mpeg, mpg, mov.

A video I uploaded is missing.

Skating Circle staff will remove videos if they do not conform to the posting guidelines. Every time you upload a video, you agree to our video posting policy.

*Remember that videos must not:

• Contain off-topic or inappropriate content (no videos of your last trip to the supermarket, please!).
• Belong to anyone other than the person posting.

Please report any videos you see which you believe to be inappropriate. Remember: Skating Circle may terminate your account at any time if we feel that you are not conforming to the standards we've set in order to make the Skating Circle experience fun for everyone.

Tips for Online Safety

The Skating Circle team is dedicated to making your experience fun and safe, but we need your help! Here are some tips that will help protect you when you use our site:

Creating a username and password:

• Create a username that is fun and unique, but doesn't give away personal information such as your age (or birth year), address or telephone number.
• Create a password that is easy to remember but not too easy to guess. Try combining lower- and upper-case letters, numbers, and special characters (!@#$%^&*)

Posting photographs and videos

• Sharing your most exciting videos with the Skating Circle community is one of the main reasons to join the site, but remember that anything you post will be visible to other visitors. Keep this in mind before you share any videos that might reveal too much personal information.

Sharing private information

• Be careful about the personal information you post on the website. It's not a good idea to post your address, phone number or other personal identifying information.
• It's also not a good idea to share this kind of information with strangers or even on-line friends.
• Be on the lookout for anyone who asks you to give private information--such as your address, telephone number, social security number or credit card number-- even if they tell you they work for the website. You will always know if an email message was sent by a site administrator because the email address will end in @skatingcircle.com.
