I skated for about 5 years when I was younger. I quit when I was a sophomore in high school, so I could be on my high school's dance team. 10 years later, I spontaneously decided to get back into figure skating. I'm 6 months in and I love it. I wish I would have never quit. I'm not quite where I was 10 years ago, but I'm getting better! 6 months ago I could only land up to a salchow/toe loop and I couldn't even do a decent scratch spin without traveling. Now I have my loop and flip back and some decent scratch, back scratch, and sit spins. My goal is to have a flip/loop combo by my year anniversary and possibly a decent camel spin. I have no idea how I could do all of this stuff so easily 10 years ago. It is definitely more of a challenge re-learning everything as an adult. I’m only learning basic jumps and spins but my mind thinks they’re a little scary and challenging. I wish I still had the same fearless mentality I had 10 years ago.
